Former Ombudsman of Georgia starts active political life

Sozar Subari, whose term of office of Ombudsman of Georgia expired in September, and who was replaced in that post as of September 16 by Georgiy Tugushi, started active political life and will stand for the Tbilisi local government body.

Mr Subari has entered the oppositional "Alliance for Georgia", headed by Irakliy Alasaniya, former Georgia's permanent representative at the UN." As reported by the press service of the Alliance, "Subari's joining one of the parties-members of the association is not the point now." At the given stage Sozar Subari became a co-founder and co-chairman of the "Alliance for Georgia".

The leaders of the Alliance, which includes the following parties: "Our Georgia - Free Democrats", "New Right-Wingers" and the Republican Party, have expressed their readiness to take part in the forthcoming local self-government elections appointed on May 30, 2010. Irakliy Alasaniya will run for the post of Tbilisi Mayor, while Sozar Subari will be nominated to the post of the Chairman of the Tbilisi local government body.
