Dagestan: passengers brought by buses because of train wreck

Today, at about 2 a.m., near the city of Kizilyurt, some 60 kilometres off Makhachkala, eight freight-cars of a cargo train loaded with pipes and building materials went off the track because the railway was flooded. No victims are reported.

About 150 meters of the track was ruined. The railway undercut was a result of stormy rains, which have also flooded a section of the "Kavkaz" Federal Highway. Restoration trains are now busy in the venue. Under experts' forecasts, the track restoration will take at least two days.

Eight trains, which were to transport over one thousand of passengers in direction of Makhachkala, were delayed in the railway section Kizilyurt-Shamkhal. The Open Joint-Stock Company "Russian Railways" has organized, together with the authorities of Dagestan, transportation of passengers from these trains by buses to Makhachkala and Kizilyurt, where they will take special trains to destinations.
