Inspection finds no violations of prisoners' rights in Stavropol colony

Today, the office of the Ombudsperson for the Stavropol Territory has reported that the check conducted in Corrective Colony No. 11, located in the Shpakovskiy District, Stavropol Territory, failed to reveal any violations of prisoners' rights.

"A check was held in the colony, one more commission was set up, and today our representative takes part in one more check held there. We don't see any violations of human rights there," Alexei Selyukov, Ombudsperson for Territory, said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, searches were indeed conducted in the colony, as stipulated by the instruction of the UFSIN (Federal Service for Enforcing Punishments), with the aim to detect forbidden items. "A hooch still was detected, mobile phones, which also are forbidden, and other minor forbidden articles," said Mr Selyukov.

According to his story, there were no disorders provoked by the search in the colony. "Physical force was applied to the nine prisoners, serving their terms for grave crimes, who objected to the search and refused to obey the colony administration. But there were no fractures or brain concussions, on which rumours ran," he has assured.

He has also added that these nine prisoners refused to file complaints to the Ombudsperson.
