Georgia to ban foreign films dubbed into Russian

Foreign films will be on in Georgia only dubbed into the Georgian language, or with captions in Georgian.

At its sitting on July 9, the committee of the parliament of Georgia on education, sciences, culture and sports passed the bills on amending the Laws "On Broadcasting" and "On State Support of National Cinematography" in the first reading.

The "Georgia Today" Agency reports that according to these amendments, showing films already dubbed into Russian will be forbidden; exceptions will be made for serials, animation and other products intended for preschool children.

The bills assume a ban on showing all foreign films at cinemas and on TV as accompanied by translation, the "Vesti.ru" reports.
