Germany and France reject visas to Abkhazian youth

Young people from Abkhazia cannot take part in the "Camp of Peace" organized by the Council of Europe in Germany and dedicated to settlement and transformation of conflicts, because of visa problems: embassies of France and Germany in Moscow refused to give visas to them.

As reported by Aida Ladariya, co-director of Sukhumi Youth House, some two months ago representatives of Abkhazia were offered, for the first time ever, to come to the "Camp of Peace", which will be held this year on 5-12. The event was to attract young people also from Palestine, Cyprus, Northern Cyprus, Georgia and South Ossetia.

Ms Ladariya said that Abkhazian participants managed to timely send their visa documents to Moscow. As the "News-Georgia" Agency reports, the refusal arrived from German and French embassies at the supreme moment.

"Strange to see that even such influential organization as the Council of Europe has failed to organize the participation of Abkhazian and South-Ossetian delegations in the camp held under the all-European campaign," the "Apsnypress" Agency quotes Aida Ladariya as saying.
