South Ossetia asks US President to help in freeing its prisoners kept by Georgia

As reported today by David Sanakoev, representative of the President of South Ossetia on human rights, mothers of South-Ossetian residents kidnapped by Georgian special agencies have sent an electronic letter to US President Barack Obama asking him to help to liberate their sons.

"The letter was written on the eve of US President's visit to Moscow by ten mothers and relatives of those, who are illegally kept in the territory of Georgia. They (the relatives) asked me, and on Saturday I sent the letter to the consular department of the US embassy," Mr Sanakoev is quoted by the "Kommersant".

According to his story, the mothers and relatives hope that the authorities of Georgia will listen to the opinion of US President, who gives "great attention to defence of human rights irrespective of the place on the planet where they are violated," the "NEWSru.com" writes.

The letter runs that since August 8, 2008, Georgia keeps 13 residents of South Ossetia. The list of these persons is attached to the letter, as marked by the "News-Georgia".
