About 13,000 jobless persons involved in public works in Astrakhan Region

Under the programme aimed to reduce tensions in the labour market of the Astrakhan Region, by July 2, a total of 580 contracts were signed with employers of all forms of ownership about organization of public works for 12,937 persons; 6160 of them have already started their public works.

According to the Astrakhan Regional Population's Employment Agency, contacts have been concluded on involvement in public works of 4093 employees; out of them, 2754 workers, partially employed at their main jobs, have already started clearing and improving the territory, cosmetic repairs of buildings and production shops, cleaning production and non-production facilities.

Over 100 persons have received grants at a rate of the maximum annual unemployment allowance and launched their own businesses.

Still, in spite of the help of regional authorities, many townspeople cannot find work.
