Former prime-minister of Georgia appointed country's NATO permanent representative

The Parliament of Georgia has approved former Prime Minister Grigol Mgaloblishvili to the position of Georgia's permanent representative at the NATO. The nominee was supported by 100 MPs at the quorum of 57, one deputy was against.

His priority mission will refer to enforcement of the decisions of the NATO summit in Bucharest, where Georgia's chances to join the Alliance were discussed.

"Now, development of annual national plans is in progress aimed at efficient coordination of this process," the RBC quotes the former prime minister of Georgia as saying.

In 1996-2008, Mr Mgaloblishvili took different posts in Georgia's MFA; from November 2008 to February 2009 he was the prime minister and resigned referring to health problems.
