Stavropol Territory: investigation of Dmitri Medkov's false murder charge is over

In Stavropol Territory, the investigation is over of the criminal case against the head of the criminal search division of Novoselitskiy ROVD (District Interior Unit) and his subordinate, for whose guilt teenager Dmitri Medkov had been illegally brought to criminal liability for the murder of his sister that he never committed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the young man was found guilty and sent to forced treatment at mental hospital, where he spent about three years; he left the clinic with a physical disability certificate.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Investigatory Division for Stavropol Territory of the ICPO of the Russian Federation that Kargalyov, head of the criminal search division of Novoselitskiy ROVD and his subordinate - operative militiaman Mikhnyov - are accused of abusing official powers with application of violence (point "a", part 3, Article 286 of Russian Criminal Code).

"The preliminary investigation has established that in 2003 the above militiamen, when carrying out operative-search activities on criminal case on the fact of disappearance of a local girl, began putting moral and psychological pressure on her brother, and applying physical violence to him, demanding him to confess of the murder he had never committed," said Ekaterina Danilova, senior assistant of the head of the Investigatory Department.
