American observers in OSCE: elections to Board of Elders in Yerevan passed with violations

The mission of American observers in the OSCE have fixed in their report essential violations admitted on May 31 in the capital of Armenia. In particular, observers report falsification of votes in the course of vote tabulation and violence against candidates' election agents.

"The elections passed with large-scale falsifications and terror against election agents and observers," runs the report. The authors mark that the greatest number of violations of the Electoral Code were fixed in the Yerevan community of Malatiya-Sebastiya.

For example, at polling stations Nos. 8#08 and 8#09 of this community in the presence of US ambassador to Armenia Mari Jovanovich mass throw-ins of ballot papers were registered.

We remind you that on June 16 Armen Oganyan, a member of the precinct electoral commission, and resident of Yerevan Norair Egiazaryan were sentenced to three years of imprisonment each for falsification of the outcomes of municipal elections in the capital of Armenia.
