Special commission to gather information about disappearances in 1992 in Prigorodny District

A special commission in charge of investigating the fates of missing residents of the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia has started its work with collecting all relevant information; then, it will move to localities.

We remind you that in early June of 2009 the authorities of Ingushetia and North Ossetia set up a commission for investigating disappearances of residents of the Prigorodny District of North Ossetia in the course of the armed conflict in autumn of 1992. The commission includes employees of investigatory bodies of the two republics and relatives of the missing people. President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov told about it at his meeting with relatives of missing persons.

Kaloy Akhilgov, press secretary of the President of Ingushetia, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the commission will work in the territory of both regions. "The main work will be focused in different parts of the Prigorodny District, where, presumably, there are burials of unknown victims. Searches will be also conducted in the territory of the flat Dzhairaf District of Ingushetia," Mr Akhilgov explains.

He has added that the commission will use the data presented by relatives of the missing people. After verifying the data, they will start searching remains. The members of the commission do not exclude that someone can be still alive. "Although it's unlikely," the press secretary admits.
