In Spain, woman from Chechnya tried to burn herself in protest against eviction

A Chechen woman, mother of four children, committed a self-immolation act in Spain in protest against eviction from a free-of-charge apartment of the Red Cross.

The woman, whose name is not disclosed, lived with her husband and children in the house for political asylum applicants located in the city of Alicante. Since Spanish authorities have twice rejected their refuge applications, the Red Cross asked them to abandon the apartment.

Then, the woman committed a self-immolation act right in the office of this international organization. Now she is in the central hospital of Alicante, the "Prima-News" reports.

Now the victim is in a grave condition, although her life is out of danger. To her luck she was immediately helped by the Red Cross employees.

In the beginning of this decade Spain granted asylum to hundreds of Chechen natives, however, in recent years applicants, as a rule, are rejected, as reported by Radio Liberty.
