Ingushetia: special operation goes without violating civilians' rights

The broad-scale special operation against members of illegal armed formations (IAFs), launched by power agents on May 16 in villages of the pre-border Sunzha District of Ingushetia and then extended to the whole territory of the republic, continues. Residents assert that no rights of civilians are broken in the course of actions.

Such special actions include combing-out the large forests adjoining the villages, setting ambushes on possible militants' routes. Besides, passports of residents of these villages are checked.

"As of today, we have particular results. Thus, for example, in the morning on Thursday, May 21, during combing-out a wood in the vicinity of Chemulga village, Sunzha District, special fighters confronted a grouping of militants. A combat collision happened, and at least one IAF member was wounded," a source in the MIA of Ingushetia said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

President Yunus-Bek Evkurov and Minister of Internal Affairs were personally present in the venue of the operation and controlled the warfare. Mr Evkurov then visited the villages in Sunzha District, talked with locals, explained the necessity of taken measures and called them to vigilance.

The President has stated that the special operation will continue until the confidence is attained that citizens of Ingushetia are out of any danger. "What was earlier (when militants were squeezed out of the territory of Chechnya to Ingushetia, and then back from Ingushetia to Chechnya, - comment of the "Caucasian Knot"), will never happen again," said Mr Evkurov. For this very reason it was decided to cooperate with the Chechen party.

Residents of Sunzha District villages, directly covered by special actions, say that militaries commit no violations.

This fact was also confirmed by Azamat Nalgiev, Chair of the Public Commission for Defence of Human Rights under the President of Ingushetia.
