Ummupazil Omarova: residents of Dagestan mostly complain of violations of economic and social rights

Most of the complaints received by the Office of Dagestani Ombudsperson refer to violations of citizens' socio-economic rights. This was stated on February 24 at the last session of the Parliament of Dagestan of the fourth convocation by Dagestani Ombudsperson Ummupazil Omarova. In total, the agenda of the session of the Parliament included 13 points.

Woman from Azov accuses kindergarten teacher of abusing her child

Elena Marchenko, a resident of the city of Azov, Rostov Region, is suing Irina Grinchak, a teacher of kindergarten No. 16, accusing her of abusing Elena's child. However, the teacher said that there was no abuse of Marchenko's 6-year-old child by her. The court upheld the opinion of the kindergarten teacher, but the family of Marchenko disagreed with the decision and intends to challenge it.

In Dagestan, inquiry into militiamen's beating teenager protracts for six months

According to Bakanai Guseinova, advocate of Makhmud Akhmedov, 14, a resident of Dagestan, who was beaten by militiamen on July 20, 2010, now an additional check is underway. Head of logistics of GUVD of Northern Caucasus arrested on bribery suspicion

By decision of the court, Vladimir Galda, Head of the Logistics Centre of the GUVD (Chief Interior Department) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Russia for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), was put into custody as a suspect of taking a bribe of 1.2 million roubles.

Suspect of murdering Yegor Sviridov gets "yellow mark"

Mother of Aslan Cherkesov, the main suspect of murdering Yegor Sviridov, is furious that her son, who is kept in the SIZO (pre-trial prison) "Matrosskaya Tishina" (meaning "Sailors' Silence") was awarded a "yellow mark". The bosses of the facility give no explanation on why the mark appeared in Cherkesov's personal file.

Azerbaijani politicians and public figures urge BBC not to stop broadcasting

The democratic society of Azerbaijan is deeply disappointed by the decision of the BBC Corporation to stop broadcasting in the Azeri language and to switchover the work of the service, along with some other groups, into the format of Internet resource. They call the corporation to continue broadcasting in the Azeri language.

In Georgia, prosecution demands seven years in prison more for Tsotne Gamsakhurdia
