Temrezov was re-elected as the head of Karachay-Cherkessia.

The deputies of the parliament of Karachay-Cherkessia unanimously voted for the candidacy of Rashid Temrezov, who has been leading the republic for 15 years.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", Vladimir Putin presented to the parliament of Karachay-Cherkessia three candidates for the post of head of the republic. In addition to the current head Rashid Temrezov, nominated by "United Russia", deputies Alexander Chayka from the LDPR and Krym Shkhakhov from the party "Fair Russia" were also contenders for the position. The parliament deputies were to elect the head of the republic today, September 20.

Today, at the session of the People's Assembly, the deputies unanimously elected Rashid Temrezov as the head of the republic, reports RIA "Karachay-Cherkessia".

All 48 deputies present at the session supported the candidacy of Temrezov, who has been leading the region since 2011, TASS reports.

It is worth noting that in 2021, Temrezov's opponents in the elections were Oleg Zhedyaev and Renat Akbaev. Akbaev expressed confidence that he would have won in direct elections, while Zhedyaev saw no chance of victory for himself. The parliament of the republic unanimously re-elected Temrezov.

In 2016, the deputies also unanimously re-elected him as the head of Karachay-Cherkessia.
