Today, 86 members of Azerbaijani families who left the Jebrail district during the Karabakh conflict returned to the village of Shyukyrbeyli.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 6, 223 members of Azerbaijani families who left the Jebrail district during the Karabakh conflict returned to Shyukyrbeyli. Prior to that, on June 20, 20 families (89 people) of former internally displaced persons returned to the village of Shyukyrbeyli (Shukyrbeyli).

The Jebrail district came under the control of Azerbaijan as a result of the 44-day Karabakh war of 2020. The statement that Azerbaijani troops took the city of Jebrail (Armenian name - Jraghank) was made by President Ilham Aliyev on October 4, 2020.

Families returning to the village of Shukyrbeyli in the Jebrail district were handed the keys to their homes. At the key handover ceremony, residents were informed about mine safety rules, reports Report.

Today, the return of 15 families consisting of 86 people to the village has been ensured.

The resettled former internally displaced persons had previously lived temporarily in various parts of the country, mainly in dormitories, sanatoriums, and administrative buildings.

The authorities are building houses, roads, and schools, but the issue of employment in Azerbaijani villages in Karabakh, where the displaced persons are returning, has raised concerns among social media users. The plots of land for the new houses are small, and land reform is necessary for the development of private farms and the settlements themselves, analysts pointed out.

In November 2023, the Azerbaijani authorities announced plans to return up to 34,500 families (140,000 people) to the former conflict zone in Karabakh by the end of 2026. The pace of resettlement is hindered by mine danger, lack of jobs, and unresolved land use issues.
