The authorities of Abkhazia reported on fuel supplies against the backdrop of queues at gas stations.

A new batch of fuel has arrived in Abkhazia, but gasoline is being issued to drivers in limited quantities amid long queues, as reported by social media users.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the fuel supplies from Russia announced by the authorities of Abkhazia have not yet led to an improvement in the situation at gas stations. Long queues persist at gas stations, and drivers are only allowed to fill up 20 liters of fuel.

Today, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic reported on measures to normalize the "ongoing difficult situation" in the fuel sector in Abkhazia via its Telegram channel.

"Since yesterday, the sale of automotive gasoline has begun at some small private gas stations in the eastern part of the Republic of Abkhazia," the agency's message states.

According to the ministry, fuel shipments from Russian oil refineries continue as part of previously contracted volumes. New batches arrived in the republic on August 6. At the same time, the agency warned that "external factors" could make daily adjustments to the planned shipping and supply schedules.

"Further information for citizens will be provided by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Abkhazia, taking into account changes in the situation in the fuel sector. Daily monitoring is being conducted," the agency's press service writes.

Since the beginning of August, residents and tourists in Abkhazia have been complaining on social media about fuel problems in the region. According to drivers, huge queues are forming at gas stations. Fuel can consistently be found at the "Rosneft" and "Podorozhnik" gas stations, but one has to wait several hours for it, reports the publication Yuga.ru.

In a video published on August 6 by the Telegram channel "Krysha TurDoma", the situation at the gas station is captured: in 34-degree heat, drivers are forced to turn off their air conditioners to save the last fuel while waiting in line. To support people, one local resident distributed purchased water and juices for free.

Subscribers in the Telegram channel "Abkhazia chat | Excursion rental", which has over 41,000 participants, also pointed out the difficulties with refueling cars.

"Today I refueled at 'Podorozhnik' near New Athos. AI-95 - 90 rubles, limit 20 liters. I waited about 25 minutes," wrote Dmitry.

"Gasoline is only delivered to large gas stations like 'Rosneft' and 'Podorozhnik', the queues are long because there are only a few such stations. 90 rubles for AI-95 gasoline," informed Nadezhda Golubeva.

"We refueled 20 liters in one direction and simultaneously 20 liters at 'Podorozhnik' in the other lane. It took an hour and a half. This was at 10 in the morning," shared Antonina.

"You can't refuel in two receipts, the limit is 20 liters per person. At night, as they say, the queues are even longer, it's better to go early in the morning," advised DM.

"For gas, there are two gas stations for all of Abkhazia, one at the entrance to Sukhum, one somewhere between Psou and Sukhum, the price is 50 rubles per liter, I can't say about the quality - I haven't refueled. There are huge queues for gasoline, and the limit is supposedly 20 liters, but sometimes in some places you can find a relatively short queue," wrote Vladimir.

On July 30, the authorities of Abkhazia reported that 414 tons of automotive gasoline had arrived in the republic, and the supply of the remaining volumes of fuel was expected at the beginning of August. After that, local residents indicated on social media that queues at gas stations still persist, there is a shortage of fuel, and its quality remains low.
