Makhachkalans took to the streets and achieved the restoration of electricity supply.

Residents of Kadyrov Street in Makhachkala blocked the road due to a lack of electricity supply for several days. Only after the protest action was the power restored to their homes, residents reported.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 26, residents of Makhachkala faced prolonged power outages again. The Makhachkala administration asked citizens not to use powerful electrical appliances due to the overload of the power grid, which caused irritation among the residents.

On the evening of August 6, residents of the houses on Akhmat Kadyrov Street in Makhachkala blocked the road in protest against frequent power outages. In apartment buildings No. 44 and 46, the power is turned off daily without explanation, but after the road was blocked, the power was restored, a resident of Ahmed Street told a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

"When we call the emergency service 'Dagenergo', they say that we have an emergency shutdown. No one explains why there are daily outages. People are tired of the lack of adequate response from the authorities and decided to block the street," the man said.

"People are tired of waiting for explanations. And they are tired of waiting for the time in Makhachkala when the authorities and energy providers will move from words and promises to actions," the publication "Chernovik" stated on August 6. Later, the publication, citing the Makhachkala administration, reported that the road in the area of house No. 46 on Kadyrov Street was unblocked, and electricity was restored to the residents' homes.

"We have young children at home, after work we need to cook food, wash clothes. Instead, we are forced to sit without power in stuffy apartments. The Makhachkala administration is silent, they do not explain anything to us," local resident Zainab told "Caucasian Knot".

Makhachkalan Abdul noted that residents of other districts are also ready to protest in the streets.

"Recently, people in Makhachkala have not resorted to extreme measures like blocking roads. But every day the entire city center is without power, in such heat the pumps supplying water to the high-rise buildings do not work, the authorities do not react at all, the traffic lights are not working, the city is in collapse. Residents of other districts have informed me that they intend to take similar measures to draw the authorities' attention to the electricity supply situation," he said.

Residents of Makhachkala regularly complain about problems with electricity and water supply. At the end of July 2025, Makhachkalans complained about prolonged power outages lasting several days. Officials explained the power interruptions by repair work and abnormal heat.

In August 2025, residents of the Reducer settlement held a spontaneous street action due to the lack of power in their homes. After that, the city administration reported that the power supply to most homes had been restored. In the summer of 2024, residents of the settlement also held a spontaneous protest due to power outages.
