Georgian energy workers reported the resumption of electricity supply after the blackout.

The power supply in Georgia has been fully restored after a large-scale outage.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on the evening of August 5, Georgia experienced the third large-scale blackout in two weeks. According to Giorgi Pangani, a member of the National Commission for Energy and Water Supply Regulation of Georgia, the complete shutdown of Georgia's energy system was related to tests of the Inguri Hydroelectric Power Station units. "The goal was to identify and assess weaknesses in the system considering the accidents that occurred on July 24 and 25. As part of the testing, among other activities, the operation of Georgia's energy system in an isolated mode was planned. This mode was associated with certain technical risks," Pangani reported.

The power supply in Georgia has been resumed after the blackout. All strategic and vital facilities and enterprises are operating normally.

"There is not a single subscriber in Georgia who has been left without electricity," the press service of the "State Electric System of Georgia" stated on the company's website.

The lights went out around 20:10 (19:10 Moscow time) on August 5, which led to disruptions in critical infrastructure. There was no electricity in Tbilisi or in other major cities of the country. Traffic lights and street lighting were not working. Rail transport was temporarily halted, and the Tbilisi metro stopped. The Inguri HPP (Inguri Hydroelectric Power Station) is the largest hydroelectric power station in the Caucasus, located on the Inguri River. After the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict, the power station came under the jurisdiction of Georgia and the unrecognized Abkhazia. The dam of the Inguri HPP is located in the territory controlled by the Georgian authorities, while the control panel is in the Gal district controlled by the Abkhaz side. At the same time, 100% of the shares of JSC "Inguri HPP" remain in the ownership of the Georgian state. There is an agreement between Abkhazia and Georgia on the division of electricity: 40% goes to Abkhazia, 60% to Georgia, according to the "Caucasian Knot" reference "Inguri HPP".
