Pro-European protests in Tbilisi have been ongoing for 608 days.

Protesters outside the Parliament of Georgia expressed their protest against the unfair trial of activists detained in Tbilisi for obscene posters about Bidzina Ivanishvili.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 26, police detained ten people in Tbilisi who were holding posters with offensive inscriptions about Bidzina Ivanishvili. The next day, on July 27, another activist, Nodar Tsitsriashvili, was detained for a similar poster. Demonstrators on Rustaveli Avenue on the 607th day of protests at the Parliament supported the detainees. Today, the court imposed administrative arrests and fines on six of them.

Demonstrators who came to the Parliament with the flags of Georgia and the European Union held posters criticizing the unfair trial: "Judge, history will remember your decision" and "An unfair court cannot break the spirit of freedom." The protesters also had posters saying "A government that fears a banner", "Glory to freedom", "14 years of tolerance and we couldn't re-elect" and "The people against dictatorship", according to a publication by photographer Georgy Mosiashvili (Mo Se) on Facebook.

More than 100 people participated in the gathering, according to a video posted on social media by Georgy Mumladze.

Activist Ia Melitauri, who was sentenced to five days of arrest today, reported police violence during the court session, and after the decision on her case, the activist was held for more than 12 hours in the courthouse basement "without water, food, and basic human conditions," writes lawyer Marika Arevadze for Netgazeti.

Protesters in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024.
