The number of victims of poisoning in the Stavropol Territory has increased.

About a hundred tourists and staff from the recreation center in Stavropol turned to doctors with symptoms of intestinal infection. Two people remain in the hospital, seven have been discharged from the hospital.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in the Novoselitsky district of the Stavropol Territory, 79 people sought medical help with complaints of poisoning symptoms. Specialists from Rospotrebnadzor identified salmonella bacteria in samples from the local recreation center "Golden Sands" food block.

The number of victims from the outbreak of intestinal infection in the Stavropol Territory has risen to 97 people. Some of the affected are staff from the recreation center located at the Volchye Vorota reservoir near Novoselitsky, but mainly tourists who were resting at this center fell ill, reported the regional Investigative Committee on July 20.

“A total of 84 people who were resting at the center and 13 staff members sought medical help in medical institutions of the Stavropol Territory and neighboring republics. They were given a preliminary diagnosis of "acute infectious gastroenteritis," - the agency's message is quoted by Interfax-South.

The majority of the sick are being treated on an outpatient basis; only nine people were hospitalized, including three children. Seven patients were discharged by the evening of July 20, and two people continue treatment in the hospital.

Investigators consider the products from one of the meat processing plants in Stavropol as a probable source of the infection: the causative agent of salmonellosis was found in both samples of prepared dishes and frozen products.

The operation of the hotel complex has been suspended. “Disinfection of open and closed areas has been carried out,” the investigative authorities added.

A criminal case is being investigated under the article on violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules, which led to mass illness or poisoning of people through negligence (Article 236 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In the absence of fatalities among the victims, this article provides for up to two years of imprisonment or forced labor.
