A soldier was convicted in Kabardino-Balkaria for abandoning his unit and drug trafficking.

A military court in Nalchik sentenced serviceman Stanislav Yemelyanov to 20 years in prison, finding him guilty of absenting himself from his unit without leave, theft, and drug trafficking.

According to the case file, serviceman Stanislav Yemelyanov evaded military service from August 27, 2024, to February 11, 2025. In January 2025, he stole someone else's property.

According to investigators, Yemelyanov set fire to another man's car to avenge earlier claims regarding the loss of jewelry. In February 2025, he purchased a large amount of drugs online and placed them in five secret locations for sale. At that moment, he was detained by police, the press service of the Nalchik Garrison Military Court reported today on its VKontakte page.

Emelyanov has an outstanding conviction for a particularly serious crime, for which he has not fully served his sentence. Taking this into account, the court found him guilty of unauthorized abandonment of his unit, theft, destruction of property, and drug trafficking, and sentenced him to 20 years in a special regime penal colony, the report said.

Stanislav Yemelyanov or his representatives have not commented on the court's verdict or the investigation's version of events.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a court in Nalchik had previously sentenced contract soldier Lev Sidorov to one year in prison, finding him guilty of unauthorized abandonment of his unit.
