As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by June 12, officials and security forces officially recognized at least 1,982 fighters from Dagestan as killed in Ukraine.

Lieutenant Shamil Magomedov, Corporals Nabi Ramazanov and Vasily Sychev, and Junior Sergeant Rashid Ismailov were killed in the SVO zone, the Kaspiysk administration reported on its Telegram channel on June 5, reporting the presentation of posthumous awards to the fighters' families.

Thus, at least 1,982 combatants from Dagestan have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts killed in the military operation. The list is based on data officially released by government officials and security agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "Northeastern Military District Statistics: Losses Are Growing for Southern Russia".

At the end of January, the Kaspiysk administration reported that Aligadzhi Rabadanov had been killed in the military operation.

Dagestan ranks first among the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District in the number of those killed, whose names have been officially released by the authorities. Sergei Melikov, who led Dagestan in February 2022, was the first government official to announce that a Russian soldier had been killed in Ukraine, acknowledging the death of officer Nurmagomed Gadzimagomedov.
