After processing just over 50% of the ballots, the Civil Contract party remains in the lead. Competitors claimed that Nikol Pashinyan, by declaring the ruling party's victory, is attempting to pressure the Central Election Commission and is violating the law.

As reported by the Caucasian Knot, parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on June 7. Observers reported violations, including a voter's relative filling out a ballot and violations of voting secrecy. After processing 1.33 percent of the ballots, the ruling Civil Contract party was in the lead. The Central Electoral Commission of Armenia published the results of the parliamentary elections after processing more than 50% of the ballots from 1,029 polling stations out of 2,005, ARKA reported today.

Meanwhile, opposition leaders criticized Pashinyan's statement about the Civil Contract party's victory and his plans for the future.

The Armenia bloc issued a statement noting that Pashinyan's assessment of the election results constituted a criminal act of usurping power, subverting the decision of the Central Election Commission, and grossly interfering in its activities. "The current regime must bear legal responsibility for all election violations recorded during this period, the gross misuse of administrative resources, and the repression of citizens' free expression of will," the bloc said in a statement published by News.am.

Strong Armenia party leader Samvel Karapetyan stated that the Civil Contract party will not achieve the victory it desires. He claimed that most of the election results already released are from rural areas, and as soon as urban data began to come in, the ruling party's results declined.

Bright Armenia party chairman Edmon Marukyan suggested that Pashinyan wait until the vote count is complete, calling his statement "a violation of all electoral law."

Wings of Unity party leader Arman Tatoyan wrote on social media that Pashinyan's statement is unconstitutional and goes beyond his powers as prime minister. According to him, Pashinyan is clearly attempting to exert illegal influence on the Central Election Commission "with the aim of influencing the election results, which is a criminal offense."

Members of the ruling Civil Contract party are committing widespread violations at polling stations, while the Central Election Commission and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia are demonstrating inaction, the opposition reported. Observers reported video recording at polling stations, attempts to influence the vote, and deceased individuals on the voter lists. Difficulties were also created in allowing unregistered voters to participate in the vote. Before the polling stations closed, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported 29 violations, including attempts at duplicate voting, and the ombudsman received 59 complaints. The high turnout in Armenia's parliamentary elections was a consequence of public mobilization and the perception of voting as a choice for the country's future path, according to political scientists interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot."
