A march in Tbilisi is dedicated to demanding treatment for children.

Participants in a march in Tbilisi, which took place on the 550th day of daily protests, demanded that the authorities promptly purchase the necessary modern medications for children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," a mass march took place in Tbilisi on May 30, the 549th day of continuous pro-European protests. Activists came to the parliament building with posters against police violence.

A protest march under the slogan "Give the children their medicine" is taking place from the Rustaveli metro station to the administration building.

Children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, their parents, and activists are participating in the march.

For over a month, parents have been holding a non-stop protest against the administration, demanding the import of medications, Interpressnews reports.

According to the protesters, their main demand is for the authorities to provide timely treatment for children with a rare disease.

The protesters marched through the city streets holding posters and red balloons. Children in strollers were also among the participants, according to a video attached to the publication.

Parents shouldn't fight for medications; they already have so many difficulties in life due to their children's illness, according to an audio message from a 21-year-old patient with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which was read at the rally.

"Five years ago, I needed artificial ventilation because my condition worsened. Life after being on the machine is very difficult, because even the simplest turn is impossible. You need to lie still so the tube doesn't fall out of your neck and you don't choke. That's why you have to lie still. These medications have appeared on the market; perhaps you will sympathize with our pain and bring these medications... I am very sad that I cannot support my parents today. My absence from the rally doesn't mean I am not with you," Publika quotes the audio message.

Protesters in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners since November 28, 2024. Security forces have violently dispersed the protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detained protesters. Thousands of people have been subjected to administrative prosecution during the protests. The "Caucasian Knot" has prepared a report "The Main Thing About the Persecution of Protest Participants in Georgia".
