A soldier from Kabardino-Balkaria was killed in the SVO zone.

Lieutenant Islam Kandrokov was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, at least 398 soldiers from Kabardino-Balkaria have been officially recognized as killed.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," by May 26, authorities and security forces had officially recognized at least 397 soldiers from Kabardino-Balkaria as killed.

Islam Kandrokov was killed in a military operation, the Terek District administration announced today, reporting on the unveiling of a memorial plaque.

He was born on May 18, 1999, in the village of Verkhniy Akbash. After completing 8th grade, he continued his studies at Cadet Boarding School No. 3 of the Kabardino-Balkarian Ministry of Education. In 2019, he entered the Ryazan Guards Airborne School named after Margelov. During his studies in 2021 and 2022, he took part in the Victory Parade on Red Square in Moscow. After graduating, the lieutenant served in the city of Ulyanovsk. On June 15, 2024, the young officer was sent to the SVO zone.

In May 2025, he was appointed commander of an assault company. On August 19, 2025, Islam Kandrokov died in the combat zone on the Kinburn Spit and was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, according to a message on the Tersky District Telegram channel.

Thus, at least 398 soldiers from Kabardino-Balkaria have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation. The "Caucasian Knot" knows the names of 385 of them, and the deaths of another 13 were revealed in a report by the republic's authorities on payments to the families of those killed in 2022.

In December 2025, the Terek District administration reported that six natives of the district were killed in the SVO zone .

"Caucasian Knot" maintains a list of names of natives of the North Caucasus Federal District and the Southern Federal District killed in the military operation. The list was compiled based on data officially released by government officials and law enforcement agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "NVO Statistics: Losses Are Growing for Southern Russia."
