A Rostov court sentenced a Crimean resident to compulsory treatment for plotting a terrorist attack.

The Southern District Military Court sent a Kerch resident who was planning a terrorist attack on the railroad to a psychiatric clinic for compulsory treatment.

The court sentenced the 32-year-old Kerch resident, finding him guilty of preparing a terrorist attack (Part 1 of Article 30 - Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

According to investigators, the man was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence services. On instructions from his handler, he acquired components for an improvised explosive device and stored them in a secret location in his apartment. He was supposed to blow up a railway line in Kerch, which was used to transport tankers carrying fuel and lubricants, but was detained by law enforcement, Kommersant reported on May 22.

The court found the man guilty but ordered him to undergo compulsory treatment in a psychiatric clinic.

Previously, "Caucasian Knot" reported that on May 23, the Southern District Military Court sentenced Gorlovka resident Vladislav Gamzin to 17 years in prison, finding him guilty of treason and calls for terrorist activity.
