Residents of Sunzha, Ingushetia, complained that frequent pipe breaks on Engels Street have turned the asphalt into potholes.

According to local residents, their street has become a "testing ground" for the gas and water utilities.

The residents' complaint was published on the Telegram channel "Fortanga," which has over 12,000 subscribers. By 7:00 a.m. Moscow time, the post had garnered over a thousand views.

"Pipes burst in the same places year-round here, then they get repaired, and so on in a circle. The entire road is full of potholes, and new asphalt was laid here about ten years ago," residents complain.

According to local residents, another water main break recently occurred near the tax office. "The utility workers simply drove wooden stakes in until the next emergency and left," they said.

Residents themselves installed a road sign to prevent cars from ending up in the ditch. Meanwhile, clean drinking water has been flowing along the side of the road down to private homes for several days.

In April, Yuri Chaika, the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District, stated that approximately a third of the utility networks in the North Caucasus Federal District were worn out and required replacement. The project will modernize 565 housing and utilities facilities and 20,800 kilometers of utility networks. According to him, sustainable development programs for housing and utilities and energy have already been in effect in Dagestan, Ingushetia, and North Ossetia since 2022, Kommersant reported.

In Ingushetia, housing and utilities and water supply issues remain a key concern for residents. The Regional Control Center reported that since the beginning of 2026, they have received approximately 750 citizen complaints regarding housing and utilities issues, Magas TV reported.

Most residents' complaints concern housing and utilities, with water supply interruptions topping the list. Power outages are the second most common complaint. Next come issues related to road conditions, education, and public amenities.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in early March, multimillion-dollar theft during water main repairs was discovered in Karabulak. Major repairs to the water supply network in Karabulak, where residents have been complaining for years about serious problems with the water supply, have not been completed by the contractor whose company received over 160 million rubles from the budget.
