Former Rostov-on-Don Interior Minister Shpak was denied a contract with the Ministry of Defense.

The investigation denied the former head of the Rostov-on-Don Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sergei Shpak, a contract with the Ministry of Defense and his transfer to the SVO zone.

As "Caucasian Knot" reported, in early April, the Pervomaisky District Court of Rostov-on-Don extended by six months the detention of the former head of the Rostov-on-Don Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sergei Shpak, accused of receiving Bribery, fraud, and illegal circulation of payment funds. During the court hearing, he filed a motion to be sent to the Special Military District. He did not admit his guilt.

Investigators denied Sergei Shpak a contract with the Ministry of Defense, 161.ru reported on May 2, citing a source in the security forces.

According to the source, sending the former security officer to the Special Military District is impossible even legally. Until the verdict comes into legal force, the investigation and the court may deny the motion to sign the contract.

As a reminder, according to investigators, Shpak, while serving as the head of the police department of the Rostov-on-Don Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2017, received a bribe in the form of travel packages worth over 260,000 rubles for patronizing the Pokrovsky concern. Then, from 2019 to 2023, while serving as deputy head of the department and then as its head, Shpak and his subordinates stole nearly 300,000 rubles, which were accrued to the operative as wages for days he was actually absent from work, the Investigative Committee's regional investigative department reported.
