Following bad weather in Dagestan, nine commuter trains were cancelled due to repairs.

Two commuter trains in Dagestan will not operate on the evening of April 2, and seven more were temporarily suspended on April 3 due to repair work on the collapsed railway bridge between Berikei and Kayakent.

As reported by "Kavkazsky Uzel," by March 30, a state of emergency due to flooding had been declared in Makhachkala, Buynaksk, Dagestanskiye Ogni, Kaspiysk, Khasavyurt, and three districts of Dagestan: Khasavyurt, Karabudakhkent, and Derbent. By April 1, 822 residential buildings and 58 road sections remained flooded in five municipalities of Dagestan, and a state of emergency was also declared in the Gumbetovsky, Babayurtovsky, and Novolaksky districts of the republic. In Makhachkala, not all residents are able to use the water supply; many have to buy bottled water. By April 2, the state of emergency due to flooding was extended to 12 municipalities of Dagestan. The republic's authorities have accepted more than four thousand applications for compensation for damage caused by the floods.

Due to restoration work on the Berikey-Kayagent section of the Makhachkala region of the North Caucasus Railway, the schedule of several commuter trains will be changed, the North Caucasus Railway announced today on its Telegram channel.

Specifically, two evening commuter trains between Derbent and Makhachkala have been cancelled on April 2. On April 3, seven trains will be temporarily suspended on the routes Makhachkala-Khasavyurt, Makhachkala-Derbent, Derbent-Makhachkala, and Khasavyurt-Derbent. Earlier, bad weather destroyed one span of the railway bridge on the Berikei-Kayagent section. "Zakhar Adamov, Deputy Head of the North Caucasus Railway for the Makhachkala Territorial Administration, is working on the scene. A detour is being organized, and further information will be provided," the Dagestan government reported on its Telegram channel on March 28.

On Saturday, bad weather caused service suspensions on several sections of railway track in Dagestan. Heavy rainfall and rising water levels in the Yaryk-Su River have undermined railway bridge supports and collapsed superstructures on two tracks at the Khasav-Yurt station. Train service on the Khasav-Yurt - Kadi-Yurt section has been suspended, Interfax reported.
