Ten kindergarten children were poisoned by carbon monoxide in a Dagestani village.

Children at a private kindergarten in the village of Paraul have been hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning. The Investigative Committee has reported opening a criminal case.

The poisoning of preschoolers in Paraul was reported this afternoon. Initial reports of the incident mentioned five children injured, but the number of victims later increased.

Ten children from a private kindergarten in the village of Paraul were hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning, TASS reported. "After complaining of nausea and weakness, the children were taken to a hospital in the Karabudakhkent district. Preliminary reports indicate the leak was caused by faulty equipment," the Mash Gor Telegram channel reported.

The children, aged between one and four years old, were injured, Sapa Kavkaz reports, citing a source in the republic's Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The Investigative Committee of Dagestan reported opening a criminal case regarding the poisoning of children in the Karabudakhkent district. According to the agency, the decision was made based on online publications discovered by investigators.

"The necessary investigative and procedural actions are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the incident," the official Telegram channel of the Investigative Committee of Dagestan reported. However, the agency did not specify the article under which the case was opened.

The Dagestan Prosecutor's Office also reported opening an investigation into the incident. As of 6:30 PM Moscow time today, the Dagestan Ministry of Health had not released any information about the incident in Paraul or the condition of the injured children.

In the summer of 2025, a tragic accident occurred in the village of Nizhny Dzheguntai in the Buinaksk District, where a mother and four children were burned in a gas explosion. Three of the injured children died. Dagestan Head Sergei Melikov promised financial assistance to the family at the time, citing a violation of safety regulations when connecting gas equipment as the cause of the incident.
