A report on water supply to Makhachkala residents surprised Telegram users.

Today at 05:30 Moscow time, emergency repair work on the main water pipeline on Khushetskoye Highway was fully completed, JSC "EORD" reported on its Telegram channel at 07:45 Moscow time. Dagestan's single operator for water supply and sanitation.

"The damage has been repaired, and the pipeline's functionality has been restored. The gradual reopening of water supplies from the Khushet Wastewater Treatment Plant (KWTP) via gravity lines is currently underway to stabilize the hydraulic regime and subsequently restore the system to its normal water supply parameters. Short-term pressure fluctuations are possible while the network is filling," the publication states.

As of 3:50 PM Moscow time, 15 comments had been posted under the publication, the last one being left at 12:56 PM Moscow time. Some commenters thanked the workers who cleaned up the mess.

Other commenters complained about the lack of water supply. "Where's the water pressure?" – wrote, in particular, at 10:09 Moscow time a user with a nickname consisting of hieroglyphs.

"Try reading the post under which the comment was left, maybe there's a reply there," quipped Antonio Margheriti. "There was no pressure before this post either," countered another user.

"Did anyone get water?" asked Liana Shabanovna at 10:43 Moscow time. "No," responded user with a nickname consisting of hyphens. "There's no water at Turali, we're waiting," Oksana wrote at 12:30 p.m. Moscow time.

As a reminder, in August 2025, residents of the Reduktorny settlement in Makhachkala staged a spontaneous protest due to the lack of power in their homes. The city administration subsequently reported that power had been restored to most homes. Residents of other areas of the city also complained of similar problems. However, officials focused on the proliferation of calls for mass protests against power outages on social media and threatened Makhachkala residents with liability for unauthorized protests. During a live broadcast on November 27, 2025, Dagestan Head Sergei Melikov ignored pressing issues and provided only vague answers to questions raised. Residents of the republic awaited Melikov for an explanation about the constant power and water outages, burning landfills, and rising prices for housing and public utilities and transportation.

Problems with housing and public utilities in Dagestan continued in 2026. On January 8, residents of Kaspiysk complained that there had been no water in their homes for about a week, and numerous appeals to Gorvodokanal and the city administration remained unanswered.

On January 15, it was reported that the water supply to Kaspiysk districts, which had not been restored to normal operation since the end of December, was interrupted due to a new water main failure. Two days earlier, on January 13, investigators opened a criminal case due to the prolonged lack of water supply in Kaspiysk.
