The case of the murder of the head of Parakar has been sent to court.

The case of two Armenian residents accused of murdering the head of the Parakar community, Volodya Grigoryan, and police officer Karen Abrahamyan has been sent to court.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," Volodya Grigoryan, who was elected head of the enlarged Parakar community (which includes Merdzavan) from the opposition Unity bloc, was shot and killed on September 23 in the village of Merdzavan in the Armavir region. Grigoryan's friend, police officer Karen Abrahamyan, was also killed. Security forces arrested two suspects.

The criminal case regarding the murder of Volodya Grigoryan, head of the Parakar community, and police officer Karen Abrahamyan has been sent to court, News.am reported on January 13.

Two people are accused in the case. G.A. is charged under Part 1 of Article 155 (murder, two counts), Part 1 of Article 44-155 (attempted murder), and Part 1 of Article 335 (illegal trafficking in firearms) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. N.O. is charged under Part 1 of Article 46-11 (complicity in murder, two counts) and Part 1 of Article 46-44-155 (complicity in attempted murder). Both defendants have been arrested.

Residents of Merdzavan believe that relatives of police officer Mher Akhtoyan are involved in the murder. On October 12, at a protest, Merdzavan residents demanded that the Akhtoyans leave the community. "We want to live in peace. As long as this family is here, we cannot live in peace," one protester explained. In early November, they held another protest demanding an investigation into Grigoryan's murder.
