The Ministry of Defense reported 19 downed drones in two regions of the Southern Federal District.

Drones were shot down in the skies over the Rostov and Volgograd regions.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot," a cell phone tower was damaged during a drone attack in the Volgograd region. Two private homes were damaged in the Rostov region.

During the night of October 30, 19 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down in the skies over regions of the Southern Federal District, including 14 over the Rostov region and five over the Volgograd region. The Ministry of Defense reported this on its Telegram channel.

Meanwhile, temporary restrictions on aircraft arrivals and departures have been introduced at airports in Vladikavkaz, Grozny, and Magas, Rosaviatsiya representative Artem Korenyako reported on his Telegram channel. "The restrictions are necessary to ensure flight safety," he wrote at 6:07 a.m. Moscow time.

Volgograd Airport is once again accepting and dispatching flights, Korenyako reported. Two domestic flights were delayed due to the restrictions – one outbound and one inbound.

On October 15, Telegram users noted that nighttime flight restrictions over Volgograd are being introduced as a "tradition" and practically "on schedule." Drone threat alerts in the Volgograd region have become daily, but they cannot always be relied upon. The actual appearance of UAVs over the region is not always preceded by a warning, local residents interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" stated.

Discussions about renaming Volgograd Airport to "Stalingrad" have been active since the 1990s. However, the airport was renamed from "Gumrak" to "Stalingrad" only after Putin's intervention. On April 29, 2025, he announced his support for the initiative of veterans and participants of the Second World War, signing a decree on the renaming that same day. However, some citizens strongly opposed the renaming, recalling that under Stalin 250,000 Stalingrad residents were repressed. At a meeting with Duma faction leaders on September 18, Putin promised to consider Communist Party leader Zyuganov's proposal to rename Volgograd Stalingrad. Social media users expressed dissatisfaction with the new discussion of this topic.
