Two highways in Dagestan remain closed after mudflows

Road workers continue to clear two sections of roads in the Tsumadinsky District that were blocked after a mudflow; a detour has been organized on one of them. The consequences of the rockfall on the highway in the Tlyaratinsky District have been eliminated.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, on September 9, "Dagestanavtodor" reported that mudflows occurred on two roads in the Tsumadinsky District: on the 9th kilometer of the Agvali - Shauri - Kidero - Khvarshi highway and on the 2nd kilometer of the Nizhneye Khvarshini - Verkhneye Khvarshini highway. Traffic there was blocked, as was the case in the Tlyaratinsky district, where a rockfall occurred on the 1st kilometer of the Khidib-Noyrukh highway.

As of 10:00 Moscow time, in the Tsumadinsky district on the Agvali-Shauri-Kidero-Khvarshi highway, where a mudflow occurred, travel was provided along a bypass route, Dagestanavtodor reported in its Telegram channel.

Traffic along the highway in the Tlyaratinsky district has already been resumed by 10 Moscow time, according to the publication.

As of 10.55 Moscow time, there are no comments under it, as well as under the message from September 9 about the start of clearing the roads. The administrations of the Tsumadinsky and Tlyaratinsky districts, as well as the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Dagestan, did not comment on the mudflow and rockfall in their Telegram channels.

According to the data of the All-Russian Population Census of 2020, posted on the Rosstat website, 147 people live in the village of Khvarshi. According to Yandex Maps, there are no schools in the village.

According to Yandex Maps, there is one school each in the villages of Nizhneye Khvarshini and Verkhneye Khvarshini. According to Rosstat, in 2020, 403 and 292 people lived in these villages, respectively.

Recall that from April 15 to 17, after heavy rains and heavy snowfall, 68 settlements in 16 districts of Dagestan were left without transport links. Only on April 20, road workers restored access to all the villages.

Earlier, on April 10, an avalanche hit the Tlyarata-Khadial road in the Tlyaratinsky district. As a result, three settlements - the villages of Khadiyal, Gindib and Kardib - were left without communication with the outside world, since there is no bypass road to them.

The villages of the Tlyaratinsky district have previously been blocked due to accidents on the highway. For example, in July 2022, a rockfall blocked the highway, and as a result, residents of 13 villages were left without transport links.

In March 2021, transport links with the same three villages (Khadiyal, Gindib and Kardib) were interrupted after an avalanche hit the highway. Then the highway was cleared on the same day.
