Two Volgograd residents detained in case of selling a contract soldier a place in the rear

Security forces detained two residents of Volgograd who tried to get money from a contract soldier they knew for a position in a rear unit. An investigation has been launched into the fraud case.

Two residents of Volgograd are suspected of promising a contract soldier to get him a job in a rear unit in the military operation zone for money, the press service of the FSB Directorate for the Volgograd Region reports.

"Volgograd residents aged 57 and 45 offered to help their friend, who had signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense to participate in the SVO, for a monetary reward. For 1 million 300 thousand [rubles], they promised, allegedly using their connections, to get the man a position in a rear unit that was not participating in hostilities on the line of combat contact," TASS quotes the department's statement today.

The Volgograd residents were detained while receiving the first part of the reward. A criminal case has been opened against them under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud by an organized group or on an especially large scale; provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment).

By court decision, one of the suspects was remanded in custody for two months, the other was placed under house arrest, writes V102.RU.
