Man killed in drone attack in Sochi

A driver in the Adler district died as a result of a drone attack, and six private homes were also damaged. The authorities promised to help the family of the deceased and the victims.

A drone attack killed a man in the Adler district, Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported today on his Telegram channel.

"Shrapnel from the drone hit the car he was driving. In total, according to preliminary information, about 6 private houses were damaged: facades, roofs, windows and fences. Emergency and special services are working on the scene," he wrote.

The governor noted that he instructed Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin "to provide all necessary assistance to the family." "Also, the city administration will assist in restoring damaged property," the publication says.

The attack occurred at night, Andrey Proshunin clarified in his Telegram channel. "Unfortunately, there is one fatality. I express my sincere condolences to the family and friends. The facades of six private houses were damaged. On behalf of the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Veniamin Ivanovich Kondratyev, we will provide all necessary assistance. There are currently no threats to residents, guests and infrastructure, all city systems continue to operate normally," he wrote at 04.21 Moscow time.

As of 07.29 Moscow time, Kondratyev and Proshunin did not provide new details of the incident and its consequences. There are no comments under their publications at this time.

Recall that on September 5, Veniamin Kondratyev imposed a ban on filming and disseminating information about the use of drones, air defense systems, military facilities, and critical infrastructure. Violators of the ban will be held administratively liable, according to the decree.

Previously, bans on filming drone attacks and their consequences were introduced in the Volgograd, Rostov, Astrakhan regions, as well as in Kalmykia, Adygea, and North Ossetia. They conflict with the norms enshrined in the Constitution, guaranteeing the inadmissibility of censorship and the freedom to search for, record, and disseminate information, the lawyers pointed out.
