Defense reported deterioration of detained Georgian activist Datashvili
The activist's health deteriorated sharply, causing the trial to be postponed.
The lawyer for the teacher activist Nino Datashvili reported that her client's health had deteriorated, which is why Datashvili was unable to appear in court and the hearing on her case was postponed:
"Today it was confirmed that her health has indeed deteriorated. The judge read out a letter signed by the chief physician of the penitentiary service, which states that Nino's health is so severe that she cannot participate in the hearing. "We, for our part, filed a motion to postpone the trial," said Tamar Gabodze, as quoted by "Gruzia-online" as saying.
It should be noted that in early August, the prosecutor's office demanded a psychiatric examination, since "the defense presented documents reflecting Nino Datashvili's health condition, where psychoemotional lability was indicated as a concomitant disease," the Sova publication quoted the prosecutor's office as saying.
Nino Datashvili was detained on June 20 in connection with an incident that occurred on June 9 in the Tbilisi City Court. She was charged under Article 353 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for an attack on a civil servant in the performance of his official duties. The type and amount of the punishment provided is a fine or imprisonment for a term of 4 to 7 years.
