UK imposes sanctions against Kadyrov's mother

The mother of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Aymani and the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation have been included in the UK sanctions list. The commander of the special regiment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Zamid Chalayev has also been included in the sanctions.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, on the third anniversary of the start of Russia's military operation in Ukraine, the ministries of foreign affairs of Australia and New Zealand updated the sanctions list, including the mother of the head of Chechnya Aymani Kadyrova. The head of Chechnya said that sanctions are related to the fact that his mother took her children out of the war zone in Ukraine.

Official London has added Aimani Kadyrov, the mother of the head of Chechnya, and the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation to the sanctions list. The updated list has been published on the British government website. The assets of those who have been subject to restrictions in the UK are subject to freezing. Those included in the list are also banned from entering the country.

Explaining the reason for including Aimani Kadyrova in the list, the British government stated that she is an "involved person" because she "participates or has participated in the destabilization of Ukraine" by supporting "the Russian government's program for the military-patriotic re-education of Ukrainian children" as the president of the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation.

London "once again showed the absurdity and hypocrisy of its policy," Ramzan Kadyrov responded on his Telegram channel. "For us, these sanctions mean nothing... These restrictions will remain just pieces of paper that will turn to dust and will only be in effect in the West, where we have not had and will not have any assets," Kadyrov wrote.

The sanctions list also includes the commander of the special police regiment named after Akhmat Kadyrov, a participant in the military operation, Zamid Chalayev. "If the enemy, sitting a thousand kilometers away, began to notice our inevitable arrival, then we are moving on the right path," the Chechnya Today news agency quotes Chalayev as saying.

We remind you that Zamid Chalayev is already on the sanctions list of the United States and Japan. Chalayev, a member of the same clan of the head of Chechnya, became the commander of the patrol and guard service regiment named after Akhmat Kadyrov in July 2019. Before this appointment, Chalayev held one of the leadership positions in this unit.
