Entrepreneurs reported serious losses. "First, the wiring short-circuited, everything was turned off. Then they turned it on again, and everything burst into flames. While we were putting it out, while they brought a ladder, everything was already ablaze. We simply did not have time. First, two fire trucks arrived without water. I started to pull out the goods, but we were told to leave. 5 million rubles in total. Everything was gone. For some, 30 million, for others, 15. For some, it was their only income. For others, nothing was left. My mother sold women's shirts and scarves. There were 5 places, only four bags were saved," V1 quotes one of the entrepreneurs as saying.

The sellers remained at the site until the last, hoping to take the surviving goods. However, it was impossible to figure out where and whose point was located after the fire, the publication says.

“We have damages of more than two million. Something caught fire, and in a minute everything burned down,” Novosti Volgograda quoted another seller as saying.

“A lot. 3-4 million and even more. She just arrived with the goods yesterday. All the expensive Turkish goods were there,” another woman said.

“Kavkazsky Uzel” also wrote that on August 28, 2022, a fire occurred at the Lyudmila market in Volzhsky. 153 people were evacuated from the market. By 19:35 Moscow time, firefighters localized the fire on an area of 7,000 square meters. The next morning, the Ministry of Emergency Situations extinguished the fire.

The entrepreneurs who rented space at the Lyudmila market in Volzhsky did not insure their goods and do not believe that they will be able to recover damages through the courts. Some entrepreneurs suffered damages ranging from 300,000 to 3 million rubles; many took out loans to develop their businesses.
