Ruslan Nurushev sent to the place of serving his sentence

Lawyer Ruslan Nurushev was transferred from the IK-9 pretrial detention center in Volgograd to Colony No. 12 in Volzhsky. The defense is preparing a cassation appeal.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, on May 5, a court in the Traktorozavodsky district of Volgograd sentenced lawyer Ruslan Nurushev to six years in prison, finding him guilty of spreading fake news about the army. The defense filed an appeal, asking to acquit Nurushev. Activists raised funds to pay for Nurushev's lawyer in the appeal process. On July 21, the Volgograd Regional Court refused to overturn the sentence of Ruslan Nurushev.

 "Ruslan wrote that he was transferred to IK-12 in the city of Volzhsky. Therefore, we inform the support group that writes him letters that Ruslan's address has changed. He was transferred there for permanent imprisonment," Nurushev's lawyer Yulia Guseva told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

 After Ruslan is transferred "to a permanent place of imprisonment," the defense will try to achieve a "change of regime" - Ruslan's transfer from a general regime, for example, to a "forced labor" regime (FLR).

 "FLR can be done in that colony. They (prisoners in FLR - note from "Caucasian Knot") are there on weekdays, and they go home in the evenings. They spend the weekends at home. It is unlikely that the political prisoner will be granted parole, but he can do correctional labor," said Yulia Guseva.

When asked by a correspondent when the defense plans to file a cassation appeal, the lawyer replied that she will do so after her vacation, which ends on September 12.

"I will meet with him in IK-12 in advance. We will discuss the defense strategy and then file a cassation appeal," Yulia Guseva explained.

Yulia said that Ruslan had not made any complaints. He received letters in the detention center on time. He asked his relatives not to visit him for now. The lawyer does not know what conditions he is in now. In letters to the lawyer, Ruslan did not complain about the new conditions of detention or his new cellmates. This will become known after a meeting with his client in IK-12.
