Two military men convicted in Nalchik for failure to appear at military unit

In Nalchik, two sentences were handed down to servicemen in a case of evading military service during mobilization.

As "Caucasian Knot" wrote, on September 24, 2022, parts 2.1, 3.1 and 5 of Article 337 on unauthorized abandonment of a unit or place of service during mobilization were introduced into the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The amendments provide for imprisonment for up to 10 years. The tightening of laws after the announcement of mobilization led to harsher sentences for absence from a military unit.

On August 27, 2025, two guilty verdicts were handed down against serviceman I., convicted of committing a crime under Part 3.1 of Article 337 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. and serviceman P. convicted of committing a crime under Part 5 of Article 337 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the press service of the Nalchik Garrison Military Court reports on its official VKontakte page.

The court's press service claims that I., without good reason, failed to report for duty at a military unit stationed in Ingushetia on May 5, 2025, during the mobilization period. He was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months' imprisonment in a general regime penal colony.

Serviceman P., without good reason, also failed to report for duty at a military unit at the appointed time on May 24, 2024, during the mobilization period. For committing this crime, he was sentenced to 5 years' imprisonment in a general regime penal colony, the department's press service reports.

It should be noted that the names of the servicemen are not indicated in the court's press release. However, the case files on the court website indicate that the convicted persons are named Ikayev Akhsarbek and Pazov Rashid.

Recall that on September 21, 2022, Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization. On October 28 of the same year, the Minister of Defense reported to the President on its completion, but no corresponding decree followed. Lawyers came to the conclusion that a presidential decree is not needed to complete the partial mobilization, Putin's press secretary explained.
