Journalists learn of abuse of Azerbaijanis killed in the Urals

Official Baku has not disclosed all the details about the injuries on the bodies of the brothers Guseyn and Ziyaddin Safarov, who died after a special operation by security forces in Yekaterinburg, sources claim.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, on June 28, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called on the Russian authorities to investigate the deaths and injuries of the Azerbaijanis who suffered on June 27 as a result of a special operation by security forces in Yekaterinburg. Experts in Baku called blunt force trauma the cause of death of the brothers Guseyn and Ziyaddin Safarov, while the Russian side called the cause of death a heart attack.

The genitals of Guseyn and Ziyaddin Safarov, who were tortured after being detained by Russian security forces, were cut off, one of the publications reported1 citing two independent sources.

One of the sources, according to journalists, is close to the Russian authorities, the second is a public figure from Azerbaijan who is familiar with the Safarov case. The Azerbaijani source clarified that official Baku did not disclose some details of the abuse of the Safarovs “for reasons of prestige.”

Journalists were unable to determine whether these injuries were inflicted by Safarov during his life or posthumously.

The official conclusion of the examination in Baku speaks of abrasions “on the inner thigh” and bruises and injuries “in the genital area,” without specifying the nature of the injuries. At the same time, the same examination established that “none of the brothers received injuries from sharp or firearms; all injuries were inflicted by blunt objects.” Excerpts from the expert opinions and photographs of the Safarovs’ bodies, handed over by the Russian side to Baku, were published on July 1 by the publication Minval.

The pictures published by the publication do not show the damage to the groin area, but many other injuries are visible - there are injuries and hematomas on almost all parts of the body, one of the brothers has a large dark hematoma on the back of his thighs and buttocks.
