Volgograd airport operations restricted for second time in 24 hours

Volgograd airport is temporarily not accepting or releasing aircraft due to a threat to flight safety, a representative of the Federal Air Transport Agency reported.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, at about 01:30 Moscow time on August 13, temporary restrictions were introduced on the acceptance and release of aircraft at Volgograd airport. The airport resumed operation in full in the morning, two aircraft flying to Volgograd were sent to alternate airfields. The Ministry of Defense reported that 11 drones were shot down in the Volgograd region overnight.

Artem Korenyako, an employee of the press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency, reported new restrictions on the operation of the Volgograd airport late in the evening on August 13.

“Temporary restrictions have been introduced on the arrival and departure of aircraft. The restrictions are necessary to ensure flight safety,” he wrote in his Telegram channel “Representative of the Federal Air Transport Agency” at 23:14 Moscow time. Previous restrictions at the Volgograd airport were lifted less than 20 hours before this message.
