Five candidates registered for the Rostov Region gubernatorial elections
As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, on June 5, deputies of the legislative assembly of the Rostov region scheduled the elections for governor for September 14. Acting governor Yuri Slyusar announced that he intends to participate in the elections for the head of the region.
On November 4, 2024, Vasily Golubev, who has headed the region since 2010, announced his resignation as governor of the Rostov region due to a transfer to another job. Yuri Slyusar has been appointed acting governor. On November 22, deputies of the regional legislative assembly voted to grant Golubev senator's powers.
The Rostov Region Electoral Commission has completed the registration of candidates for the post of governor of the Rostov Region.
A total of five candidates have been registered: the current acting governor Yuri Slyusar, nominated by United Russia, Yuri Klimchenko from the Russian Pensioners for Social Justice party, Yevgeny Bessonov from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Sergei Kosinov from A Just Russia - Patriots - For Truth, Denis Frash from the Liberal Democratic Party, according to the Electoral Commission's Telegram channel.
Klimchenko is a native of Taganrog, he is 67 years old. From 2006 to 2022, he was the chief engineer at the Kursk Knitwear and Spinning Mill. Then he worked for two years in senior positions in the administration of Rybinsk in the Yaroslavl Region. From August to December 2024, he supervised the inventory of the Yantar Baltic Shipyard in Kaliningrad. Bessonov is 56 years old, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov Region until 2021, then a deputy of the State Duma.
Kosinov is 64 years old. Since 2007, he joined the A Just Russia party. Since 2008, Sergei Kosinov has headed its regional branch. Until 2023, he was a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov Region.
Frash has worked in business since 2004. He managed enterprises until he headed the Alliance Service company in 2014, and then Alliance Retail in 2016. In June 2023, he headed the regional branch of the LDPR, and in September of the same year he became a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov Region.
The elections for the governor of the Rostov Region will be held from September 12 to 14.
Recall that Evgeny Bessonov was a participant in the gubernatorial elections in 2020. Then the incumbent governor Vasily Golubev received 66.46% of the vote, and Bessonovcame in second place with 17.15% of the vote.
On September 13, 2020, Evgeny Bessonov and the LDPR candidate Pyotr Pyatibratovin a joint statement demanded that the vote be declared invalid, since numerous violations were recorded. Rostov activists admitted that they do not yet see any grounds for canceling the election results, despite numerous reports of violations.
A week later, several dozen peoplecame to a gathering in Rostov-on-Don to support Evgeny Bessonov's protest. Participants of the gathering said that they witnessed violations at polling stations.
