Court releases Ingushetia Ministry of Education and Science official from pretrial detention
The Supreme Court of Ingushetia has softened the measure of restraint for an employee of the republican Ministry of Education and Science, Aza Ozdoeva, who was arrested on August 1 in a case of embezzlement.
As "Kavkazsky Uzel" reported, on July 30, searches in the Ministry of Education and Science were conducted against the backdrop of an investigation into a case of multi-million ruble theft during preparation for the Unified State Exam, while the press service of the ministry denied the fact of the searches. On August 1, it became known that the court arrested the employee of the department, who was detained that day, for two months in a case of fraud and abuse of power.
Today, the appellate instance of the Supreme Court of Ingushetia changed the preventive measure for 51-year-old deputy head of the accounting and financial and economic activities department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ingushetia, Aza Ozdoeva, canceling the decision of the Magas District Court on her arrest. Ozdoeva was released from the pretrial detention center and transferred to house arrest.
The term of the preventive measure remained the same, it is valid until September 30, the press service of the Supreme Court reported today.
Ozdoeva's arrest was appealed by her defense, while the investigation continued to insist on keeping the suspect in custody. In addition to house arrest, she has been given prohibitions and restrictions, the court said in a statement. The publication does not specify what kind of restrictions are being discussed.
According to the materials of the criminal case, during 2021 and 2022, officials of the Ministry of Education of Ingushetia stole budget funds allocated for compensation to teaching staff for the preparation and conduct of final school exams, as well as checking the work of the OGE and USE.
The thefts were carried out by drawing up fictitious fixed-term employment contracts - they were signed with 276 people who did not actually participate in the work related to the exams. Payments in the amount of more than 10.7 million rubles were transferred to their accounts.
Ozdoeva is charged with fraud on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 159) and abuse of office (Part 1 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code of Russia). The first article provides for up to 10 years in prison, the second - up to four years in prison.
