Kabardino-Balkaria resident suspected of collecting money for militants
Investigators believe that the native of Kabardino-Balkaria is a member of an international terrorist organization; she is suspected of collecting money and recruiting new militants.
The suspect is 53 years old; she left Russia in October 2017. According to security officials, the woman is participating in the activities of a terrorist organization on the territory of a foreign state, where she arrived through neighboring countries.
According to the investigation, in November 2016, the suspect posted on a social network about collecting funds for charitable assistance to those in need and collected 1.1 million rubles. She transferred the money to members of a terrorist organization banned in Russia, according to a statement from the republican Investigative Committee.
The woman is accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and organizing the financing of terrorism (Part 4 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). In addition, a case of recruitment to a terrorist organization (Part 1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was previously opened against her.
The suspect was arrested in absentia and placed on the international wanted list. The department's statement did not specify the name of the terrorist organization, the woman's supposed country of residence, or her route.
"Caucasian Knot" also wrote that in early July, investigators reported a criminal case against a 40-year-old resident of Kabardino-Balkaria suspected of financing militants. According to investigators, she transferred 105 thousand rubles to a member of an international terrorist organization.
