Krasnodar resident convicted in case of calls for extremism

Krasnodar resident Vladislav Solokhin was sentenced to a fine for comments calling for the "destruction of the symbols of the current government."

The case of the 29-year-old Krasnodar resident was heard by the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don. The man had no previous convictions.

Vladislav Solokhin was charged with public justification of terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and public calls for extremist activity (Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to the prosecution, Solokhin is “an opponent of the Russian Federation conducting a special military operation.”

The court established that from January to July 2024, he, a resident of Krasnodar, published comments in one of the messengers “in which he called for the destruction of the symbols of the current government and violence against law enforcement officers,” the Krasnodar Territory Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement today.

The agency does not specify whether the accused admitted his guilt. Solokhin was sentenced to a fine of 400 thousand rubles to the state with a three-year ban on administering websites and pages on the Internet.

Vladislav Solokhin’s case was received by the military court in Rostov-on-Don on June 10, and his sentence was handed down today, according to the case file on the court’s website. The “Caucasian Knot” does not yet have comments from the accused or his lawyer.

"Caucasian Knot" also wrote that earlier in July, the Southern District Military Court sentenced a resident of Krasnodar Viktor Morozov to a similar fine, finding him guilty of justifying terrorism for a comment under a post about the verdict in the case of an attempted arson of military registration and enlistment offices.
