In its complaint, defence calls Ingush resident a slander victim

The sentence to Abo Dobriev, a resident of Ingushetia, sentenced to life imprisonment, is based on the testimony of the witness who had slandered him and is not supported by other proofs, the defence has stated in its complaint.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 3, 2019, Abo Dobriev was detained on suspicion of attacking law enforcers during a rally held in March 2019 in the city of Magas. Then, these suspicions were removed from him and another case was opened – about the organization of a criminal community in 2012-2013. On October 1, 2021, Dobriev was sentenced to life imprisonment. The court found him guilty of killing an employee of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), three policemen, and of attempting to kill soldiers in Ingushetia and North Ossetia. The court referred to testimonies of witnesses, who had refused from them, stating that they had testified under pressure, the advocates said in their complaint.

The defence asserts that the accusation is based on the testimony of Timur Ortskhanov, who is accused of attacking law enforcers in 2010-2012. In 2019, Ortskhanov was deported from Germany to Russia. Dobriev claimed that he did not know Ortskhanov at all.

Lyudmila Tolstonogova, an advocate, has stressed that such a harsh sentence was based only on the testimony of one person, which "indicates a clear slander."

Sharip Tepsaev, another advocate, has also indicated that Evloev is an uncle of Dobriev's wife. "Dobriev, as a son-in-law of the Evloevs, could never shoot at his wife's uncle, even on pain of death," the advocate has explained.

According to Svetlana Gannushkina**, the head of the "Civic Assistance" Committee**, now in Russia there are 0.1% of acquittals from the total verdicts announced.
