12 people continue their hunger strike in support of Talekh Bagirzade’s demands

Talekh Bagirzade, the leader of the “Muslim Unity” movement, has been on a hunger strike for 13 days demanding punishment of law enforcers for blasphemy. In addition to Talekh Bagirzade, 12 believers, 10 of whom are in prison, take part in the protest action. However, the authorities have not yet responded to the hunger-strikers’ demands.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on June 3, Talekh Bagirzade went on a hunger strike, demanding to punish the law enforcers, who, according to supporters of the “Muslim Unity” movement, were blaspheming while torturing believers.

Talekh Bagirzade explained that it was not so much the punishment of these people that was important for him, but he wanted them to recognize their mistake and repent.

New protestors have joined the hunger strike, reports Arzu Abdulla, the head of the Committee for the Protection of the Islamists’ Rights.

“The hunger strike is not related to the personal problems of the protesters. It is an insult to Allah, our religion. From the very beginning, we want to resolve the issue by peaceful means, without illegal actions,” said Elchin Gasymov, the deputy chair of the “Muslim Unity” movement.
